Gallery Visits and college workshops
Concordia University
UW-Stevenspoint
|
During Novemebr of 2019, we took a day trip to UW-Stevenspoint. Here, our art class at the opportunity to tour the school as a whole, and view some artworks that were displayed in their art building. Our tour guide showed us some of the work spaces in the classrooms. Lastly, we were able to view the artwork displayed in their gallery. This was a really cool experience to see all the artwork, especially at a college level.

MIAD
We visited MIAD for a semester 1 MIAD industrial design project when we were working with Murf. After the critique, we were able to tour the school and see the different art majors they offer, what goes on in those classes, and student work spaces. The whole building had artwork on each wall and it had a unique project that was given to students. A lot of the artwork was so creative and inspired me very much. The art was so unique and out of the box ideas.

Pabst Mansion
|
My visit to the Pabst Mansion was during winter break and happened right after Christmas. The mansion as a whole and every room was decorated for Christmas. The different rooms of the kids and parents, as well as the kitchen, living room, dining, and even bathrooms had different themes for Christmas decorations. I was very inspired by the fine detailing in the wallpaper and in the molding for the lights. We also had a chance to see some portraits that were done by the family and of the kids.

UW-Milwaukee
For our visit at UWM, we were doing our dyptych illustration critique. Before the critique, we had a chance to do some workshops. The first workshop was making paper. I wasn't sure at the process and didn't really know how to do it, but it was very fun to try. After we did the paper, we rotated to our second workshop where we did some more figure drawing. For this specific figure drawing workshop, we did some blind drawings where we were unable to look at our paper. This was my first time doing this and it was difficult at first, but it was also interesting to see the final product. We also worked with some different forms of charcoal and did some more figure drawing. These figure drawings were blind, but it was somewhat difficult to do the gradients.

Gallery Night at the Marshall Building
|
(Next to each image is the title of the artwork). During Gallery Night at the Marshall Building, we had the chance to visit the different galleries by different artists. The cello was made from Maddie Frank. She told us that all the parts used were made by a 3D printer and she attatched them together. The paintings are all made by Hal Koenig, an artist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His art was very inspiring and reminded me of a modern day Monet. He does several landscapes of Milwaukee with oil paint. His work and Maddie Franks work inspired me for paintings but also helped me see a future with my MIAD project.
